Staunton Street Reconstruction Municipal Council withdrew

The URA has applied for an increase in the development of the Staunton Street Reconstruction Project in Central. The scheme has not been supported by the Planning Department and the Bureau has withdrawn its application and has indicated that the project has been re-planned.

The redevelopment of the Staunton Street / Wynn Street redevelopment project for nearly 10 years was approved to redevelop two 13- and 19-storey buildings four years ago to provide 154 flats, which were previously raised from 13 floors to 21 floors, The number of units increased to 204, originally scheduled by the Town Planning Board today.

The URA said that after hearing the different views of the community, the application for planning was withdrawn, but there was no final decision on whether the project would be re-planned.
