HS’s Anderson Road project sold as soon as 2022

The Government has been working hard to increase the supply of public housing in the past few years. The Chief Executive, Mr Lam Yiu-yiu, has re-designed nine sites in Kai Tak and Anderson Road for use in public housing. One of them was allocated to the Housing Society. The construction of the Anderson Road Quarry site, which is funded by the sale of houses, is reported to be the first to be developed. It is expected to provide 1,400 units, which will be accepted by the public in 2022.

The HS was approved for three plots of Anderson Road last year. The news said that the Housing Society was the first to develop one of the 1.75 hectares of land. It will build six 16- to 23-storey buildings and provide about 1,400 subsidized housing units. It can accommodate up to 4,000 people.

The terrain of the first development site is relatively high, and some units can overlook the Victoria Harbour and enjoy the sea view. It is reported that the HS’s subsequent development will be another land covering an area of 0.6 hectares. It is expected to build 420 units and accommodate 1,200 people.

In addition, there are also new developments in Kwu Tung North and Fanling North New Development Area. The Development Bureau has submitted a paper to the Legislative Council for an application for $32.86 billion for the main works of Kwu Tung North and Fan Lam North New Development Area. The Government expects that the land resumption and clearance for the first phase of development will commence in the second half of this year, and affected households will need to move out by the end of 2021 at the latest.

According to relevant documents, after the completion of the Kwu Tung North and Fanling North New Development Areas, it will provide 71,800 units, of which nearly 70% are public housing, which is expected to accommodate 188,000 people. The development project will be divided into two phases. The first phase will provide 21,000 public units. It is expected that the first batch of residents will be admitted in 2023 and the entire infrastructure project will be completed in 2031.
