Jewelers are bearish on sales

The Christmas season has always been the traditional peak season for consumption. However, the trend of Hong Kong stocks has been going down this year, and the property market is quiet. Under the influence of many uncertain factors, it will inevitably affect the consumption atmosphere. A number of jewelers are bearish on this year’s Christmas sales performance, and have launched promotional activities. It is expected that the overall sales growth will slow down, and the sales performance in the first quarter of next year is also conservative.

Zhou Shengsheng (116) Liu Kebin, general manager of Greater China Operations estimates that there will be a slight increase in the number of shoppers during the Christmas season. The turnover in the first three quarters of this year has double-digit growth year-on-year. It is expected that the overall turnover in the fourth quarter and Christmas period will still be low. The number is growing, but the outlook for the first quarter of next year is conservative.

The gloom of the stock market affects the atmosphere

A spokesman for Chow Tai Fook (1929) said that Christmas is the traditional shopping season and that the Group launched its annual annual sales promotion from December to January next year. It is expected that there will be a good flow of people in Hong Kong and Macau.

A spokesman for Luk Fook (590) said that the recent weakness in the Hong Kong stock market and the property market, coupled with the depreciation of the Renminbi and the trade war, had an impact on the sales of high-priced products and did not have much expectations for Christmas sales.

Xie Ruilin (417), vice chairman and chief strategy and financial officer, Wu Yiqin, expects Christmas sales to be similar to last year. Overall sales, average unit price and same-store sales are expected to remain at previous levels.
