The Seafarers’ Club Reconstruction Project, known as the Seafarers’ House, was awarded by the Imperial Group in 2018 with a total investment of 6 billion yuan and will be operated by the InterContinental Hotels’ Kimpton brand.

“From small to big, my father went shopping instead of going shopping, but visiting and looking for different hotels. Kimballoon is one of the three hotels to visit in New York. He thinks it is suitable for the seafarers’ home. Therefore, two or three. After returning to Hong Kong for market research after the year, I decided to use this brand." Guo Jihao recalled.
The Seafarers’ House project will be redeveloped into a 42-storey complex, with the lower level serving as a seafarers’ clubhouse and the 9th to 42nd floors being part of the hotel, providing approximately 500 hotel rooms with an area of approximately 300 to 400 square feet.
Yao Zhiwei, executive director of the Empire Group, said that the old part of the project has been dismantled and is waiting for the approval of the Buildings Department for the foundation project. It is expected to start within two months and the whole project will be completed in the first half of 2023.
Yao Zhiwei also said that he is positive about Hong Kong’s tourism industry. He believes that Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and high-speed rail have successfully brought people to Hong Kong. It is expected that more and more people will come to Hong Kong in the future, but the rent of these hotels is not yet fixed. Make a decision.
The Empire Group currently has two hotel projects. In addition to the Seafarers’ Club project, the Wulidu Ocean Park Hotel in Wong Chuk Hang will also open in 2022, offering 450 rooms.
