Land Debates Roving Exhibition Public Opposition to Ma Liu Shui Reclamation

The public consultation on the “Land Debate” completed the touring stage at Causeway Bay at the end of the day and the exhibition at the Maung Shan Newport City Centre. From Friday (June 1st) onwards, it will continue to move to Hong Kong’s Hung Hom Whampoa New World and Ap Lei Chau Hoi Yee West Plaza. The exhibition will be on display in the day and the exhibition at Lam Tin Kai Tin Shopping Centre will end tomorrow. The exhibition site has exhibition boards, briefings on the contents of the consultation documents, and introduction of TV broadcast videos. There are physical questionnaires at the scene and the citizens can fill in the collection box after completing the questionnaire.

A protest took place shortly after the “opening of the file” at the Xingang City Center on Saturday. There were Maanshan residents who opposed the reclamation of Ma Liushui and accompanied the demonstration slogans. Another environmental group criticized the questionnaire for multiple problems that limited the choice of citizens. Huang Yuanhui, chairman of the Land Supply Task Force, responded the same day and said that the questionnaire has multiple open questions and the public can make suggestions other than 18 options.
