Caroline Hill Road Commercial Site

The Budget announces that a number of commercial sites will be launched in the coming years. Among them, the commercial land at Caroline Hill Road in Causeway Bay will be followed by a city planning procedure after consulting the District Council twice last year. The Town Planning Board will review the development plan for the site today. The commercial sector is expected to construct two 28- to 35-storey commercial buildings with a total gross floor area of ​​approximately 1.0764 million square feet.

The Planning Department advocates a wide ceiling to 135 meters

The site of Caroline Hill Road is located at the junction of Caroline Hill Road and Leighton Road. It is about 5 minutes walk from MTR Causeway Bay Station. The original site comprises the former Headquarters of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and the former Headquarters Building of the Civil Aid. 286,000 square meters, now “Government, Institution or Community” (hereinafter referred to as GIC) and other purposes.

The Planning Department proposes to relax the upper limit of the entire site to 135 metres above the main level, of which about 172,000 square feet of Leighton Road will be rezoned to commercial (2) uses, including office, retail and hotels. Construction of two 28- to 35-storey buildings with parking lots including 125 public parking spaces.

As for the remaining site of the South China Sports Association, which is about 114,000 square feet, it is classified as “GIC(2)” for development into court facilities such as the District Court.

The department also pointed out that the existing site demolition works is expected to be completed as early as the fourth quarter of this year and it is estimated that the site will be completed in 2026.
