Central Bishop Hill Anglican Church to build a private hospital

The SKH proposes to amend the “Approval Map of the Central District Outline Zoning Plan” to apply for the relaxation of the high ceiling of the historic building complex at 1 Bishop’s Road in the Lower Sheung Wan, Central, to build a 25-storey private hospital and fully retain the first-class historic building in the area. The meeting will be considered today.

At present, the historic building complex of the Episcopal Bishop’s Hill covers an area of about 94,000 square feet, including three historical buildings of the Government House, St. Paul’s Church and the Church Concierge.

The SKC has proposed two development plans for the relaxation of the project, including relaxing the height of the buildings at the north and south sites to 135 and 80 metres above the main level, which is similar to the height of the adjacent Hong Kong Animal and Plant Park. The other building will be shorter, and it is recommended to relax the height limit to 120 meters and 80 meters above the main level.

Both schemes advocate the full preservation of the existing historical buildings on the site. The main change is that the North Site site will build private hospitals with more than 290 beds and parking spaces.
