The president of the farming community re-cultivated the second Australian re-enactment of the local rice field scenery

“When the Wohe Day is in the afternoon, the sweat dripped down the soil. Who knows the sputum in the plate, the granules are hard.” Many people have been sloppy about this poem, but not everyone has experienced the hard work of cultivating the fields. Huang Langen (Alan), the president of the Second Australian Farming Society, has retired from the property management work seven years ago and entered the second Australian village to join the local rehabilitation. He said frankly: “At the time I first arrived in Australia, I felt that the whole environment was very comfortable and beautiful. But in the eyes of most Hong Kong people, the land was only used to start the building. Therefore, I hope that through the rehabilitation work, people will imagine more land. .”

“These ginger powder, pickled radish, and rice are all agricultural products of our two Australians.” The reporter first met Alan, the president of the Second Australian Agricultural Society, at an outdoor market. The weather was so hot that he was on the stall. Constantly introducing people to various Australian agricultural products, many guests were curious and asked: “Two Australia? 喺 㗎?” Alan did not bother to explain one by one, hoping to let more people know this ancient village.

Er’ao is located in the northwest of Lantau Island, adjacent to Tai O. Therefore, you can take a walk from Tai O along the Phoenix Trail to the village or take a boat at Tai O Pier. According to the oral history of the villagers, the two Australians were originally called “Yi’ao”. They are ancient villages with a long history. The local villagers live on agriculture. However, as the times changed, the villagers migrated one after another. The countryside abandoned farming for many years, until Alan and the partner set up a two-agricultural cooperative, and in 2013, they went to the village to re-cultivate.

Re-draw

Alan has been in the 60th year of this year. After graduation, he has been working as a social worker. Later, he switched to the property management industry. He has been doing it for 18 years, and his work experience and agriculture can be described as irrelevant. “I resigned seven years ago because I was too tired and unhappy. I didn’t know what to do at the time. Later I talked to my friends about agricultural re-cultivation. So I visited many farms in Hong Kong until 2012. I feel that it is so comfortable and quiet, so I hope to realize the rehabilitation plan.”

However, the rehabilitation plan for the two Australians was not smooth. Alan pointed out that the villagers at the time should contact the two Australian villagers to discuss the relevant cooperative business model. “Anyway, the abandonment of agricultural land is also a waste. Now some people are willing to help with re-cultivation. Why not try it?” After a long discussion, the villagers finally agreed to lend. Land, however, after all, farmland has been abandoned for many years, so there are many difficulties in re-landing. The entire reclamation and water conservancy infrastructure project lasted for more than a year. Alan said: “When it comes to planning, we are like paper talkers, how to draw sketches, but when we actually open up, we know the soil and hydrological conditions of each plot. Wait.”

“In fact, in the early days of re-cultivation, many people questioned whether we first destroyed the construction. In the name of re-cultivation, it was actually a land-opening.” Alan said helplessly: “At the beginning we took a boat in Tai O. The villagers in Tai O will ask me when I will be upstairs. Haha, is it normal? In the eyes of most Hong Kong people, the land is only used to start the building. We did not know how to convince them to believe it, but only have time to prove it. Now, they will ask me when the radish is harvested. What is the situation of the sweet potato? You can see that they care about things differently and imagine more about the land.” Alan mentioned that some of the environmentalists who had questioned them in the past People, who are now friends, are very happy. “Even the attitude of the villagers in Er’ao Village has also changed. They are proud of the countryside and are full of praise for the agricultural products. They are bluntly saying “we are two kinds of rice” and “I am a villager.” These make me feel very much. Happy.”

Promote food education

Nowadays, the two Australians are full of greenery. In addition to planting rice in large agricultural fields, there are two rice harvests every year. There are also kinds of melons and fruits, such as red cabbage, turmeric, sweet potato and bamboo shoots. There are also reed fields and picnic areas, and bamboo is built. Shacks can be picked and cooked on the spot. In addition to selling agricultural products, farming cooperatives also hope to promote food farmers’ plans, such as using two natural and healthy vegetables to share a variety of fresh and delicious farmhouse dishes, such as fried green pepper and fungus tofu, fresh and sweet. In addition, the red cabbage head is rich in nutrients, in addition to making salad, it is also quite delicious with the bamboo shoots.

In addition to selling its own agricultural products, the farming community also introduced a variety of pickled products. Alan said: “I know a lot of friends who like to cook. Everyone wants to promote local agriculture and healthy eating. So I will work with them to provide crops with farming companies. Then they make salted products, such as shrimp cake chili oil, perilla bean paste, Japanese traditional white radish scallions and lemongrass garlic sauce, etc., in addition to being able to preserve food, but also want to use different products to let the guests Australian and local agriculture are interested.”

Alan said frankly: “When you eat delicious food, you will want to know how to make recipes or understand the source of the dish. In fact, this is food education. Many people will ask whether Hong Kong’s land is suitable for continuous cultivation. In addition to farming, we would like to build a village through re-cultivation and restore the village of Erao. Because farming is a way of conservation, in addition to protecting the biodiversity of the environment, it can also live in the countryside.” The shed in the village hangs out A couplet–“The Jingjing-like rice field is long, the wood is the forest and the mountain is mountainous.” It is not a matter of day and night to turn from the wasteland into a vibrant rural area. It is like irrigating local agriculture, guarding our city, and it takes years of intensive cultivation.
