Suspicious fire in Chunyang Street, North Point

A penthouse unit on the 6th floor of Daxing Building, Nos. 73 to 91, Chunyang Street, North Point, caught fire yesterday morning

The flames were thick and the smoke was in midair. During this period, the air conditioner was burned and loosened. The fire caused 10 injuries, three were serious and one woman was in critical condition.

Sources at the scene said that the residents of the fire unit were a couple in their 40s, their wives were Indonesians, and their husbands were Hong Kong people. They would usually cook Indonesian food in the unit and then sell it to nearby stores. After the fire investigation, it was initially believed that someone was cooking and causing a fire.

The incident occurred at about 11:00 am. The unit that burst on fire opened a “three-story house.

There was an explosion at the scene. The firefighters arrived at the scene and dispatched a throat and a smoke cap team to quickly extinguish the fire.

They have rescued at least 10 people, aged 3 to 68, of which 3 were in serious condition and 1 woman was in critical condition

Police have seized the LPG tanks and stoves that were blackened by the fire. The iron gates of the units involved were burned to black and the ceiling of the corridor was also severely blackened.

Affected by the fire, Chun Yeung Street covers the entire line between North Point Road and Tang Shui Road, and North Point Road runs between Java Road and King’s Road. Trams stop at Chun Yeung Street and North Point terminus. At 2 pm, the site will be unsealed, and guests can board the building.
