A fatal industrial accident occurred in Tseung Kwan O

At about 3 pm yesterday, a 55-year-old Vietnamese mudslide worker accidentally fell down while lying on the 6th floor platform while working on the 18th floor outer wall scaffold of a building under construction in Cannes at sunrise. The female worker was unconscious on the spot and was certified dead after being sent to hospital.

At 3 o’clock noon yesterday, the second site under construction at Phase 7A of Sunrise Cannes, Tseung Kwan O Road, Tseung Kwan O, a female worker suddenly fell during a scaffolding work on the 18th floor, lying on the 6th floor platform, and fell into a coma

When the co-workers saw the alarm, the ambulance staff arrived at the scene and sent the female worker to Tseung Kwan O Hospital, where she was certified dead. Police and Labour Department came to investigate. After preliminary investigation, the police believed that the incident was not suspicious, and the cause of death of the female worker was to be determined after an autopsy. It is understood that the deceased, Chen Xiaohua, 55 years old, is a mud worker and is responsible for approving and other tasks. It is reported that Chen came to Hong Kong more than 30 years ago to marry a Hong Kong husband, and then divorced without children. She was self-reliant at the site and sent money back to Vietnam from time to time to relatives and friends.

Wheelock: Aid will be provided, construction work suspended

The contractors will also provide assistance to their families to help them through the difficult times. All work on the site has been suspended immediately after the accident, and the contractor has been instructed to comprehensively review the relevant safety measures and will fully cooperate with relevant government departments to investigate. Data show that the site contractor is a Chinese construction.

Industrial casualty rights will say that China Construction has involved at least three fatal industrial accidents in the past 3 months. Except for yesterday ’s case, in October in a residential site in Tuen Mun, a male mechanic repairing an elevator fell down the tank and was squeezed by the elevator. ; A female worker was hit by a water tanker at Chek Lap Kok Airport last month. The association urged China Construction to pay more attention to occupational safety, and the Labour Department thoroughly investigated the cause of the accident.
